Driving You Crazy
167 - Concrete, who knew?

167 - Concrete, who knew?

June 4, 2020

There is more to concrete than just something you drive on. I speak with Wil Srubar, assistant professor of civil, environmental and architectural engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder about a new way to create concrete that makes it resist the freeze/thaw cycle and makes it last much longer. Also, the most unlucky DUI driver in the country and the shortest flight in the country. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

People remain quite apprehensive about riding public transit. What is it like out there right now from Nicole’s perspective? And according to one viewer, it is time for me to come back to work. E162 - Talking traffic with Sarah Phinney & the world is virus crazy

March 12, 2020

It’s time again to talk traffic, this time with Sarah Phinney, Traffic Anchor/Reporter for WFTS-TV ABC Action News in Tampa Bay. The Coronavirus is taking over life as we know it. There are two studies that show people who own and drive expensive cars are jerks and don’t care about pedestrians. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

E161 - This could be the best solution so far to stop distracted driving some are trying to stop it

E161 - This could be the best solution so far to stop distracted driving some are trying to stop it

March 5, 2020

What if there was a product that would automatically stop a driver from texting or surfing social media while driving? There is such a product but it isn’t widely known or used because the wireless carriers are throwing up roadblocks. It is an interesting, and tragic story told by Scott Tibbitts, CEO and Founder of Katasi and creator of the anti-texting product called Groove. We have another disaster after someone reclined their seat on an airplane. What is it like to take a ride-along with local police. Jayson did it and describes what happened. And it is easier to fool Tesla’s autopilot than you think. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

E160 - Talking traffic with Jon Rudder

E160 - Talking traffic with Jon Rudder

February 27, 2020

We are again talking traffic, this time with Jon Rudder, traffic anchor and helicopter reporter for WEWS-TV, NewsChannel5 in Cleveland. Jon tells us about what is happening on the roads and in the air above Cleveland. We share a voicemail (303-832-0217) about a suggested safety message that could go on a DOT message board. If you have plans on scamming your way onto the HOV lanes, here is one way not to do it. To recline your airline seat or not, that is the question. Do you have your real ID yet? You better get one soon. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

E159 - Stop messing with standard time

E159 - Stop messing with standard time

February 20, 2020

We all know the time change messes up our sleep. That also increases our risk of being in a crash and even worse, a fatal crash. So says new research from our guest Dr Celine Vetter, the senior author for A Chronobiological Evaluation of the Acute Effects of Daylight Saving Time on Traffic Accident Risk. https://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(19)31678-1#%20

What if you had your car taken away if you get too many red light tickets? It’s an idea in NYC that they hope will change driver behavior. Don’t show up drunk to your DUI court date. What are the most stolen cars? And we open up the voicemail bag. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.
