E256 - What’s the next step up from from crusie control, Super Cruise
Wednesday Aug 24, 2022
Wednesday Aug 24, 2022
The future of driving could be letting the car drive itself and General Motors is moving one step closer to that future. Today I speak with Jeff Miller, General Motors Assistant Chief Engineer of Super Cruise to talk all about the hands free technology and why it is different from self driving. Plus, AAA’s releases their annual cost of new car ownership figures and why no one might ever receive the extension of the federal tax to buy an electric vehicle. E254 - Yes, the hyperloop is possible but how badly do we want it?
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022
How badly do we want the hyperloop? This is the question raised in an article by Tom Hartsfield, a PHD physicist living in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Tom wrote an article in BigThink.com called, “Elon Musk’s Hyperloop is possible. How badly do we want it?” It is a fascinating look at the challenges and complexity of the vacuum tube. Also, my observations from a recent trip to Chicago & South Bend and an email I received that was a bit off the mark. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

General Motors is going full speed ahead with the move to all electric cars. One of the issues we have talked about here is the lack of charging infrastructure. To increase access to charging and enable long-distance electric travel, GM and the Pilot Company you know them as the Pilot Flying J Travel Centers…. are collaborating on a national DC fast charging network. To talk more about it and some of the challenges they are facing is Travis Hester, General Motors Chief Electric Vehicle Officer. Also, I talk about an article that says free transit makes people drive less isn’t accurate. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

E247 - Talking traffic with Dr Kelcie Ralph from Rutgers University
Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
We’ve talked a bunch about the increasing number of people walking and biking who are being killed or injured in the roads. Today I speak with Dr Kelcie Ralph, Associate Professor of Transportation Planning and Policy at Rutgers University where she studies transportation, safety, and public opinion. I talk with Dr Ralph about that issue with pedestrian deaths as well as talk to her about her take that local news outlets that cover traffic collisions can affect perceptions of blame and responsibility among readers, listeners, or viewers. Also, a recent guest, Andrew Levy CEO of Avelo Airlines, told me they were looking to expand but they are doing just the opposite. Also the tale of the scooter vigilante in Denver.
