General Motors is going full speed ahead with the move to all electric cars. One of the issues we have talked about here is the lack of charging infrastructure. To increase access to charging and enable long-distance electric travel, GM and the Pilot Company you know them as the Pilot Flying J Travel Centers…. are collaborating on a national DC fast charging network. To talk more about it and some of the challenges they are facing is Travis Hester, General Motors Chief Electric Vehicle Officer. We’ve talked a bunch about the increasing number of people walking and biking who are being killed or injured in the roads. Today I speak with Dr Kelcie Ralph, Associate Professor of Transportation Planning and Policy at Rutgers University where she studies transportation, safety, and public opinion. I talk with Dr Ralph about that issue with pedestrian deaths as well as talk to her about her take that local news outlets that cover traffic collisions can affect perceptions of blame and responsibility among readers, listeners, or viewers. What is the best way to reduce traffic on recreation highways during the busy weekend days? There is a campaign here in Colorado from a group called the I-70 Coalition that is titled “Break Up With Your Car” that is trying to increase transit ridership between the Front Range cities north and south of metro Denver to and from the mountains. The goal is to alleviate traffic on the major mountain highway, Interstate-70. Margaret Bowes, the Director of the I-70 Coalition joins me to talk about it.
