E209 - How our DOT in Colorado faked a mud slide just to detour traffic
Tuesday Aug 10, 2021
Tuesday Aug 10, 2021
Would a state agency that is tasked with giving out at times life saving information send out fake information just to detour traffic? The answer is pretty close to yes. I look at the story of the Colorado DOT sending out a fake message about a mudslide that never happened just to get the traffic apps to reroute traffic off a road the DOT didn’t want drivers using. I rant about this and invite Denver7 polictical reporter Meghan Lopezt to weigh in on the story after she got the runaround from various officials. Also someone wrote to our newsroom saying working for Southwest is like “slave labor”. I go through that email as well. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

E208 - You may say that I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one
Wednesday Aug 04, 2021
Wednesday Aug 04, 2021
On the show, I speak with Ben Schmidt, the Co-founder and CEO of a company called Road-botics. They partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to look at the condition of the roads in 20 major US Cities. The interesting part of this study, more than just the data is the new way they collected the data. They used smartphone cameras mounted to the windshields of vehicles and then they used Artificial Inelegance to analyze it. A quick followup on the space talk from a few episodes back, plus, one of the good guys in the traffic world is calling it quits. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

Thursday Jul 29, 2021
Thursday Jul 29, 2021
We all know covid change the way we work but has it changed it forever and changed the way we commute? I speak with Dr. Patricia Mokhtarian, Professor of civil and environmental engineering at Georgia Tech. We will be talking about telecommuting and what it means to commuting now and in the future. Also, the Employee Traffic Reduction Program through the state of Colorado is dead and traffic reports in one place are no longer going to be on the radio. Is TV next? Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Now that we have two private space flights in the books, where do we go from here? What does this mean to private transportation and to us here on earth? Rocket scientist and University of Colorado Boulder Senior Director of Industry Relations Chris Muldrow joins me to talk about space tourism and what it means to you and me. E205 - The satellite dish only blocks my view when I make right turns
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Air travel has really gone downhill since covid. I recall my trip to Florida and how Disney needs to update how we all get around. The EU wants to stop selling gas or diesel cars by 2035. Should drivers who own back fines for traffic violations and court costs be allowed amnesty? And no, you shouldn’t drive with a satellite dish on your hood. E202 - Who knew there were camels in Colorado?
Wednesday May 26, 2021
Wednesday May 26, 2021
Tens of thousands of years ago there were animals roaming the great plains that aren’t still with us today. We know this because we dig them up from time to time and this time it happened during the massive central 70 project in Denver. They found some teeth from an ice age camel. I wanted to know more so I invited Vice President & Paleontology Program Director for Paleo Solutions in Denver Dr Paul Murphey to the show. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.

E201 - Imagine moving an interstate that is above ground underground
Wednesday May 19, 2021
Wednesday May 19, 2021
Imagine transforming an interstate route from a bridge to a lowered section below ground. That is what the Colorado DOT is doing as part of their central 70 project, the most expensive road project in Denver history. Project director Bob Hays joins me to talk about the challenges and successes of this massive project. Also, a few comments from last episodes ETRP discussion. E200 - The employer based trip reduction program
Tuesday May 11, 2021
Tuesday May 11, 2021
Have you heard of the Employer Based Trip Reduction Program? It is an idea from Colorado’s Department of Public Health and Environment Air Pollution Control Division as a way, they say, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from single occupancy vehicles. I go through the proposal and speak to Denver7 reporter Russell Haythorn about his story on ETRP and what it is and isn’t. All that and more on the Driving You Crazy Podcast.
